Details and poem

The Ysgol Tirdeunaw digital print celebrates the 1st ten years of the school's present incarnation. The design was developed with Year 6 children (10 - 11 yrs) following an introduction to some of David Hockney's photographic works of art. We described the technique we used as "digital mosaic". Scanned and photographic images were changed by making selections in the original and ensuring that these are offset and overlapping when pasted into a new document. By then changing the opacity of the layers, a new pattern emerges due to the combined opacities of the layers where they overlap.

The children learned about various other aspects of the graphics software used such as selection tools and techniques, hue, saturation, feathering, etc., etc. Following the school workshops, they composed a poem.
