The Journey up the Tapestry

by

Helen

The multi coloured audience gasped as in the middle of the Birchgrove School play, a fat green alien jumped off the brown stage. I ran to grab the alien and I tripped over a line of soumak and fell on the track and nearly got run over by Tanny gray. I rolled on to the middle of the track. Then suddenly Colin Jackson ran past. He saw I was cut badly, so Colin Jackson took me into the first aid department of the Millennium Stadium. After they had sorted out my cut, I carried on the chase. I ran into the Cardiff City Hall, I ran in the toilet and my hand touched the alien and the alien turned into a piece of cheese !

I am at the top.

Spinning a Yarn

by

Rebecca Northey
Year 6 (10 - 11 year olds).

It was a Friday and I was working on the tapestry. Mr. Snelling had just shouted for quiet so everyone was silent, Suddenly I saw, well, thought I saw one of the people in the weave wink at me, then she waved. Before I had time to scream she grabbed my collar and pulled me in. I awoke to find myself in the tapestry. I looked forward, the river was flowing, the trees were swaying and more importantly the people were walking. The strangest thing was that Mr. Snelling actually had hair ! Imagine that ! After that I knew how afraid I really was. Soon I noticed that buildings were made out of wool instead of brick. I started to walk over the bridge when I heard a scream, I turned and looked. A little woollen child had fallen into the canal and was screaming for help. I quickly dived in (thank goodness for swimming lessons) and pulled him safely to shore. The mother then picked him up, and wrung him out, which I thought was really strange. She thanked me then I asked her if I could go back to reality now. She said no. She said I had other uses. I asked her what she meant and shae said I'd find out soon enough. I did find out. Sooner than I expected. A butcher came running out from behind the trees brandishing a big axe. He shouted something about his family being well fed tonight. He came closer and closer then finally he struck. "Rebecca, Rebecca Northey," sir was calling me. "If you want to sleep in school, don't do it in my class." It was a dream. It was all a dream, but when I went on the weaving again, I couldn't help noticing the wicked smile on that woman's face.

Story by Sian

I was walking on the path by the side of the canal and my little feet were getting hotter and hotter. By the time I had walked for two minutes, they were roasting. I heard some loud dancing music and it was leading me to it. The further and further I walked, the l;ouder and louder the music got. Then a dragon popped out from under the ground and shouted, "Boo!" In a big voice I yelled. The dragon said, "Hello! Sorry if I frightened you - I only wanted to be your friend!" I had never heard a dragon speak before and I was speechless. "You won't hurt me, will you?" "No, 'cos I'm harmless. I'm trying to learn how to blow fire". So the dragon and I shaked hands and went to see where the music was coming from. We went into a wood. It was very dark. All sorts of animals came popping out in all different directions as well. All of them made a strange noise and you could hear them all over the wood. Finally, we came out of the wild wood and found out where the music was coming from. It was music from the Eisteddfod people dancing. They had the music on very loud. When the people saw the dragon, they all screamed. "AAAA, there's a dragon by you!" "Ha, ha, I know, he's my friend". "See you". They carried on walking until they came to a village. There was lots of shops in the village. The dragon had a peep in one of the shop doorways and there was two ladies in there. They looked like Aunt Spunge and Aunt Spiker from "James and the Giant Peach". One of them was skinny and smelly and one of them was plump and fat. The dragon got out of the shop because of the smell one of them made. They quickly got out of the village and into a park. In the park there was a swing, a seesaw, a slide and a roundabout. We played all day for many hours and then passed a church where there were people singing. We saw a waterfall and didn't know how to cross it so we had to swim across it and we were washed down the bank. Then we heard my mother shouting, "Dinner time". So I said goodbye to my dragon and went for my dinner.
