A Year Two Group Poem

Tapestry

When I'm weaving
I touch the soft wool, the smooth
wooden bobbins, the rough warp threads.
I see lots of patterns and lines and shapes, a rainbow
Of colours, the frame like a window.
I hear artists thinking, Mr. Duncan talking, strings
vibrating, wool pulling.
When I'm weaving
I feel as if I'm a proper weaver,
I'm happier, I could jump for joy.
I'm a proper artist.

When I Weave

by

Jonathan Brown, Year 4.

When I weave
Under and over.
What colours I use !
Bright, shining yellow.
Dark black. Green.
Red glowing in the tapestry
What do you see ?
Beautiful colours far back in your eyes.
What rough threads.
Wide and tough warp threads
What good pictures.
Cottages wide, dark hair, short
and black.
What good shapes.
Noses, brilliant faces.
Looking good.

Year 2 - Melin Infants School

My house is in Melincryddan.
Every day I wake in Melincryddan
Living with my family in Melincryddan.
I can do lots of things in Melincryddan.
Night or day is fun in melincryddan.

A Poem of Our Tapestry

by

Daniella Fowler, Year 5.

Mr. Duncan came one bright day
He carried a box of vivid
Colours of wool, bobbins and
Wooden frames too.

Lots of ideas we gave to him,
About buildings, churches and
Islands too.

All the children sketched a plan
To seal our ideas for ever.
Initials were written in
Little triangles.

So everyone has to play
their part.

Hour and hour we worked all day
Finishing the tapestries
With bright and cheerful faces.

We've nearly finished, the end
Is in sight
For this tapestry of history.

Weaving Together

A song by Emma Bull and Katy Holdham

We will weave together,
together, together.
We will weave together
because it's fun.

The tapestry gets bigger,
gets bigger,gets bigger,
the tapestry gets bigger
and the job gets done.

Every day we weave and play
learning ways to get along,
finding out what weaving's about,
everybody weave along.

What we do together,
together, together.
What we do together,
we do as one.

The weaving is now finished,
now finished, now finished.
The weaving is now finished
and the job is done.
