Alastair has built up many years of experience in working with computers as an artist. He is familiar with both the Windows and Apple Macintosh systems and uses both in his own work. This includes design development for tapestries, web site design, poster and catalogue design, etc. He is familiar with a wide range of programmes in both the professional design/art world and in the education world. Programmes he uses include, Photoshop, QuarkXpress, Dreamweaver, Director, Illustrator, Illuminatus, Dazzle, Color Magic and Textease as well as many others. He is also familiar with digital cameras and scanners.

Project possibilities can range from large format digital prints to design for weaving to illustrating a story or creating interactive illustrated documents and CD Roms. IT projects can be purely computer based or they can involve other techniques in art as well. For instance, observational drawing can be a good starting point for an art based IT project as it is important to go to the computer with a clear idea of what is required when learning to use a programme.
